Michael Edwards is an Australian composer and pianist based in Berlin. He has worked full time writing music for film and television for the last 15 years. Being also a professional pianist and music producer, he is experienced and accomplished across many areas of the music and film industries. His highly developed musicianship, orchestral and piano skills, as well as recording and production knowhow have enabled him to thrive in a diversity of mediums and working environments, collaborate widely and hone a unique voice.
Michael grew up in Brisbane Australia.. After completing his music degree he moved to Sydney in 1995 and began working freelance writing music for advertising, In 2000 he set up his own business based at Metropolis Audio Studios in Melbourne. It was during this time that he met Lisa Gerrard (Gladiator), and began working with her on the film Whale Rider. Since then Michael has collaborated with Lisa on numerous films, 2 albums and 3 world tours. After moving to London in 2003, Michael toured extensively with Dead Can Dance, Skye (Morcheeba), and Darren Hayes (Savage Garden). He established a studio in soho in London where he undertook composition and production work from all over the world. He has collaborated with Patrick Cassidy (Hannibal) in LA on many occasions, co written and produced various artists in the UK, completed films in Australia, UK, Hollywood, Germany, Japan and Italy.
